Real time business intelligence refers to the process of disseminating information about a business. Real time necessary means supplying the information from a milli seconds to few seconds after the business event.

Traditional business intelligence provides the users only historical information that facilitates analysis. But real time business intelligence provides a comparison of present business events with historical events. This facilitates identifying various problems and provides the opportunities to resolve it. It has got automated analysis capability that facilitates constructive actions and business rules for optimization of business processes. The major goal of the real-time business intelligence is reducing the time taken for corrective action or initiative.

Real time business intelligence is designed to control various latencies like data latency, analysis latency and action latency. On the other hand, the traditional business intelligence only reduce data latency .It does not address the problems of analysis or action latency because of manual processes.
